behind the

labels

mental health is often misunderstood, reduced to stereotypes, or hidden behind stigmas that make it harder for people to seek help or speak openly.

I created behind the labels as a space to peel back some of those misconceptions and open up conversations that are usually left in the dark.

yes, these are recognized disorders, but this section is not here to put people in boxes.

it’s here to help us learn, reflect, and educate ourselves. each page is dedicated to a specific disorder and shares information in a way that is approachable, clear, and rooted in compassion.

my hope is that by reading and exploring, you walk away not only with more understanding but also with more empathy, for yourself, for loved ones, and for anyone navigating their own mental health journey.

behind the

words

while we are deeply passionate about raising awareness, we want to make it very clear that we are not licensed therapists, psychologists, or medical doctors.

the information here is meant for educational and awareness purposes only, not as medical or clinical advice.

if you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, we encourage reaching out to a qualified professional who can provide the right support and guidance.

behind the

images

throughout behind the labels you’ll see photography and model imagery connected to each disorder.

these pictures are symbolic and used to capture an emotion, tone, or moment of reflection—they do not represent what any mental health condition truly “looks like.”

disorders cannot be defined by an image, and no photo can ever capture the full experience of living with them. the individuals you see are models, and their presence is here to illustrate themes and invite thought, not to portray a diagnosis.
